Is State Thomas still one of the best parts of Uptown Dallas for recent Aggie grads?

Quick answer

Not in Grant Bynum’s current ranking. State Thomas is a legitimate historic Uptown district, but Grant believes its reputation has outlasted its present-day fit for a typical recent Aggie grad. The neighborhood mattered enormously to Uptown’s rise and was once a much stronger restaurant/nightlife choice. Today Grant sees older apartment stock and materially less social energy than in its peak years, while West Village, Victory Park and other alternatives offer stronger recent-grad fits. His advice: judge State Thomas by what is there now, not by what Dallas remembers it being.
