đđ From a New Aggie Grad: Top 3 Areas of Dallas for Texas A&M Grads to Live
Howdy, Ags! đ After graduation, one of the biggest steps we face is finding the right place to live in a brand-new city. If youâre heading to Dallas, youâve probably already heard how big and spread out it is. Picking the wrong area can leave you with long commutes, higher rent than expected, or even feeling disconnected from other young professionals.
As a recent Aggie moving up here, I wanted to share what I learned when searching for an apartment in Dallas. Here are my Top 3 Areas of Dallas for New Texas Aggie Grads to Live đ
1ď¸âŁ Uptown Dallas
If youâre looking for a lively, social area full of young professionals, Uptown is where itâs at. đď¸
Why Aggies Like It: Walkable bars, restaurants, gyms, and coffee shops everywhere. Katy Trail runs right through, so you can walk, run, or bike anytime.
Lifestyle: This is where youâll meet tons of other recent grads (not just Aggies, but plenty of them!). Itâs very social and feels like a big extension of college lifeâexcept with full-time jobs.
Downside: Rent here isnât cheap. Youâll pay for the convenience, but it might be worth it for your first year when youâre trying to build a new community in Dallas.
2ď¸âŁ Midtown Dallas
Midtown is a growing hotspot thatâs kind of a sweet spot between affordability and convenience.
Why Aggies Like It: Itâs less expensive than Uptown, but still has easy access to fun areas like Addison and North Dallas. Plus, youâre closer to some corporate headquarters (perfect if youâre working in finance, tech, or consulting).
Lifestyle: A little calmer than Uptown, but youâll still find great restaurants, gyms, and young professionals. Itâs a good middle ground if you want fun but donât need nightlife every single night.
Downside: Not as walkable as Uptownâyouâll need a car. But most Dallas areas are car-dependent anyway.
3ď¸âŁ Addison
Addison is a classic choice for new grads who want a more affordable but still social option.
Why Aggies Like It: Tons of restaurants and nightlife along Belt Line Road (aka the âRestaurant Rowâ). Lots of apartment complexes packed with other young professionals, so itâs easy to meet people.
Lifestyle: You get more space for your moneyâbigger apartments, pools, and gyms compared to Uptown. Addison Circle is also a fun little area for events and hangouts.
Downside: Youâre further north, so if your office is downtown, the commute can be long.
đĄ Final Thoughts for Aggie Grads
Dallas is huge, but if you stick to Uptown, Midtown, or Addison, youâll be surrounded by other young professionals (including plenty of Aggie grads đ¤đ¤). Each area has a different vibe:
Uptown = High-energy, social, walkable
Midtown = Balanced, affordable, convenient
Addison = Spacious, social, budget-friendly
At the end of the day, it depends on your budget, commute, and lifestyle. But no matter where you land, thereâs a strong Aggie network here, and youâll never be too far from a fellow grad ready to say âHowdy!â đ
đ Ags in Dallas, drop your neighborhood in the comments! Where do you live and what do you like about it?
