🌟 **FOR AGGIES GRADUATING SOON: How to Meet Other New Grads in Your City** 🌟
Howdy Ags! đź‘‹ As we get ready to swap our maroon caps and gowns for new apartments, jobs, and cities, one of the biggest questions we face is: *How do I meet people after graduation?* Especially other new grads who are figuring life out just like we are.
When you’ve spent four years in College Station surrounded by Aggies everywhere, moving to a big city can feel overwhelming. The good news? There are LOTS of ways to find your people, make new friends, and even meet other Aggies who’ve already been where you are. Here are some ideas:
—
### 🤝 1. Join Your Local Aggie Club
The Association of Former Students has Aggie Clubs in almost every major city (Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and beyond). These clubs host game-watch parties, networking events, happy hours, and community service projects. It’s one of the easiest ways to connect with Aggies of all ages who are excited to welcome new grads.
—
### 🍻 2. Attend Young Professional Mixers
Most cities have “young professionals” organizations that host networking nights, socials, and volunteer activities. These events are designed for people fresh out of school and are perfect for making new connections outside of just work.
—
### 🏀 3. Join a Rec Sports League
Whether it’s sand volleyball, kickball, or flag football, recreational leagues are full of new grads looking for friends. It’s a low-pressure way to meet people and hang out weekly—plus, you get some exercise in too.
—
### 🏢 4. Get Involved at Work
Don’t overlook your workplace as a way to meet people. Many companies have young employee groups, volunteer opportunities, or social events. Saying “yes” to that happy hour invite could lead to real friendships.
—
### 📱 5. Use Social Media & Apps
From Facebook groups like “Aggies in Dallas” or “Austin Young Professionals” to apps like Meetup, you can quickly find events and communities in your city. Sometimes even following local bars or venues will clue you in on trivia nights or networking events.
—
### ❤️ 6. Stay Open to New Experiences
The biggest thing is to put yourself out there. It might feel awkward at first, but remember—every new grad is in the same boat. Say hi, introduce yourself, and take that first step.
—
💡 **Aggie Tip:** Once you make a few connections, your social circle will grow faster than you think. And never underestimate the power of saying, *“I’m an Aggie too!”*—that maroon bond runs deep.
