🎓🐾 MOST POPULAR AREAS OF DALLAS FOR AGGIES
Howdy, y’all! 🤠 As a new Texas A&M grad, moving to Dallas has been one of the biggest transitions of my life. After years of Aggieland comfort—walking across campus, hanging out at Northgate, and being surrounded by fellow Ags—it can feel overwhelming to step into a huge metro like Dallas.
But here’s the good news: Dallas has become one of the most popular cities for Aggies after graduation. The job market is booming, the social life is buzzing, and you’ll be surprised how many maroon shirts you’ll see out and about on weekends. 👀
So, if you’re wondering where Aggies are moving in Dallas, here are the most popular areas for Aggie grads (with some honest thoughts from someone who just made the move myself).
🌆 1. Uptown Dallas – The Social Hub
Uptown is basically the Dallas version of Northgate… just dressed up a little fancier. This is where you’ll find tons of young professionals (and a LOT of fellow Ags). With walkable restaurants, bars, gyms, and apartment complexes, it’s the go-to for those who want to be in the action.
Perfect if: You want nightlife, networking, and walkability.
Downsides: Rent is on the higher side, and it can feel a bit “flashy” at times.
🏘 2. The Village – Aggie Central
Ask around, and you’ll quickly hear Aggies talk about The Village Apartments. It’s like a mini-city of apartments with its own restaurants, pools, gyms, and social events. Honestly, it almost feels like living in a giant dorm but with adult perks. I’ve met more Aggies here than anywhere else in Dallas!
Perfect if: You want built-in friends, an easy social life, and don’t mind being surrounded by mostly 20-somethings.
Downsides: It can get crowded, and parking is a battle sometimes.
🍔 3. Addison – Work Hard, Play Hard
Addison is known for being restaurant row—literally more restaurants per capita than most places in Texas. Tons of Aggies move here because it’s affordable, still social, and close to many corporate jobs. Plus, Kaboom Town (the famous July 4th fireworks) is a local tradition.
Perfect if: You want affordability + social life.
Downsides: Not as walkable; you’ll definitely need your car.
🏟 4. Frisco – The Grown-Up Move
For Aggies working in tech, sports, or corporate HQs, Frisco is a hotspot. It’s family-friendly, shiny, and packed with new apartments, shops, and The Star (Dallas Cowboys HQ). You’ll find slightly older grads here who are ready for a quieter lifestyle.
Perfect if: You’ve got a solid job and want a newer, more suburban feel.
Downsides: It’s a bit of a drive to Dallas nightlife.
🌳 5. Lower Greenville & Knox-Henderson – Chill Vibes
If Uptown feels too flashy, Aggies often settle into Lower Greenville or Knox-Henderson. Think trendy brunch spots, local coffee shops, and fun but more laid-back nightlife. It’s still close to downtown but with a younger, more relaxed vibe.
Perfect if: You want a balance of social life + chill neighborhood feel.
Downsides: Parking is tough, and rent can creep up here too.
💡 Final Thoughts from a New Aggie Grad
Moving to Dallas was intimidating at first—but I’ve quickly realized Aggies are everywhere. Whether you want the big social scene in Uptown, the built-in network at The Village, or a more professional setup in Frisco, you’ll find your fit.
And honestly? Having other Aggies around makes Dallas feel a lot smaller and more welcoming. So if you’re making the move, just remember—no matter what part of Dallas you land in, you’ll never be too far from someone ready to throw you a “Howdy!” 👋
🔥 Aggie Tip: Don’t just pick your area based on price. Visit during the day and at night, check the commute to your job, and talk to current residents. That’s how you’ll find the right Dallas vibe for you.
